and professional leaders, teachers and support staff. Standards really matter to us – and we cultivate the same ethos for

Welcome to the successful, innovative Brompton Academy. An energetic, forward thinking and oversubscribed learning community that is part of the established University of Kent Academies Trust (UKAT). The Trust has two UKAT Academies, Brompton Academy (BA) and Chatham Grammar (CG). Brompton Academy remains one of the most over-subscribed schools in Medway. The opportunities through UKAT are plentiful and both academies benefit from a range of key interventions provided by the Lead Sponsor, the University of Kent. These include: a shared UKAT Sixth Form provision, wider curriculum opportunities, excellent shared facilities, bespoke graduate and postgraduate Student Ambassadors Mentoring Scheme. At Brompton Academy, learning is dynamic, intensive, motivating and challenging. Learning is not confined to the classroom, but is accessible all day and every day, transforming and changing the perceptions of young people and their lives through

the availability of up-to-date knowledge of the world in which they live. When you arrive at Brompton Academy you will be inspired and enthused to push the boundaries of learning, to engage, to participate and to belong. The Academy ethos is built around the iconic sculpture REACH, a statue that welcomes students, staff, parents, carers, and visitors to Brompton Academy. The word REACH stands for Resiliance, Equality, Aspiration, Community and Happiness. These individual words underpin our core values which ebb and flow throughout the life force of the Academy community, instilling a sense of self belief, purpose and belonging. We believe that our students are entitled to achieve the best possible outcomes regardless of their starting point and that they will flourish into successful young people full of enthusiasm, with a love for life and a passion for the world around them. If you choose Brompton Academy, your child’s education will be secure in the hands of a dedicated team of passionate

On entry to the Academy, students enter one of the five Mini Schools, Darwin, Turing, Rutherford, Woolf or Keynes where they remain for five years. Each Mini School has a real sense of identity, belonging and healthy competition. All students follow a core curriculum consisting of English, Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, PE and our own bespoke programmes that focus on developing students thinking and independent learning skills. These programmes are pivotal in laying the strong foundations required for successful student outcomes. The bespoke curriculum is designed to ensure all students enjoy rich and dynamic learning opportunities. The curriculum supports students' academic, social and emotional growth by developing numerous transferable skills through exciting learning experiences. We are proud to offer our students a curriculum that is challenging, globally and culturally diverse with the intention of fostering young peoples curiosity and instilling a sense of passion and excitement for learning. Our ultimate aim is for all students to achieve high quality outcomes in all their learning programmes, so that they have excellent

opportunities for progression onto Higher Education, apprenticeships or employment. The UKAT Sixth Form is part of the established University of Kent Academies Trust (UKAT), and is the natural step for many of our students who are focused on achieving future successful careers. This is a joint sixth form provision between Brompton Academy and Chatham Grammar. The curriculum offer is extensive; meeting the demands of our ever changing global economy and coupled with the intensive wrap around learning support that has evolved through transition from Mini School to Sixth Form. Sixth Form students are also able to take advantage of the academic and social facilities at the University of Kent’s Medway campus. They receive support and guidance on university entry and career choices. In addition, students benefit from one-to-one mentoring by undergraduates from the University of Kent, which inspires them to complete their studies and progress to Higher Education. discover EXPERIENCE AND The bespoke sculpture was created in 2013 and was part of the creative and innovative Skyline project, a joint venture between the University of Kent, Brompton Academy, and a variety of local community partner organisations such as the Armed Services, primary schools, military museum etc. ‘‘ REACH comprises of two parts: the figure, representing aspiration, ambition – the need to 'stretch up with all your might'. The plinth is a metaphor for the support of that aspiration: the teachers, the staff, the families, the community, and the outreach initiiative itself.

learning A NEW ERA FOR

OUR INVESTMENT IN THE LATEST APPLE TECHNOLOGY HAS CREATED A LEARNING SYSTEM THAT BUILDS STUDENTS’ INVESTIGATIVE SKILLS AND CREATIVE THINKING, THERE ARE NO LIMITS WHEN USING MOBILE DEVICES FOR LEARNING

Our investment in the latest Apple technology has created a learning system that builds students’ investigative skills and creative thinking. At Brompton Academy we have harnessed world class new and emerging Apple educational programmes and technologies, and we have literally placed the iPad into the hands of our students to empower them as learners; to give them the ability and capability to answer questions and find out information that their curious minds seek. Learning becomes limitless, boundless and atmospheric, as the iPad enables the absorption of knowledge across many different levels of interactive experiences. Students with a flair for artistic design and media creativity can enjoy the multitude of benefits born in the plentiful iMac suites. Radio and television production coupled with the inspiration of specialist music technology ensures the arts is multi-dimensional. Our new design and technology suites use the latest high specification 3D printers and technology. Our Fitness Studio is designed so students can engage in different types of fitness during PE lessons and out of hours activities. The Fitness Studio includes specialist equipment which supports cardiovascular endurance, strength training, muscular endurance and flexibility training.

Languages have been lifted from the traditional constraints of the text book, and given new life through the diversity of educational apps – making an oral language lesson a fun interactive cultural experience. Advanced specification Science laboratories with cutting edge technologies and specialist resources, are the basis for an investigative scientific approach to research and experimentation. A purpose built Science lecture theatre with wipe clean coated wall spaces allow walls to be used as a canvas to explore concepts and share ideas in a highly creative way. We have been thoughtful and experimental in choosing how we can enhance our students’ learning through new and emerging technologies. Lessons can be shared via live film links and Apple TV's that allow the iPad to work in different ways. This encourages our students to share their findings and work in collaboration with each other. Learning becomes collective, but also enhances the individual study skills of our students. The classroom is a forum for educational discovery, and the home is an extension as our students take their mobile devices home each day to extend their learning experiences.

young persons movement sponsored by His Majesty’s Armed Forces and open to students from the age of 12 years. The CCF provides students with a wide range of challenging and fun opportunities developing sound leadership skills, self-reliance, perseverance and endurance. Students are encouraged to embrace this sense of belonging through our exciting and very successful Mini School system where students participate in healthy competitions such as sports events, assemblies, performances and mutiple charity events. A sense of global citizenship, through foreign trips and international projects – ‘we dare to tread where others fear to go’ – broadening horizons and expanding minds.
