What are the common errors to avoid?
A CV template will provide you the structure to start your CV and will enable you to build it relatively quickly. There a re plenty of free word formats with various styles to download from the internet. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to manipulate than using a plain word document and that can be a frustration when you are trying to tailor it for a different role. Online CV builders offer plenty of engaging designs that can make your content look professional. Some are free to use but others will require you to pay to use the full version or to download it. If interested, here are some builder apps to explore; REED, VisualCV, KickResume, or CVmaker.
Here are just a few common issues that frustrate employers and result in CV’s heading to the rejected pile.
1. Typing errors, poor spelling or grammar
2. Too much narrative text or too little detail
3. Poor layout style e.g. small font, empty space, split page transitions, mixed fonts 4. Using an inappropriate email address or incorrect contact information 5. Uninspiring profile detailing common work qualities e.g. works well in a team
