Do I have to be a young person to get an apprenticeship? Apprenticeships are not age restricted. They are available to anyone over the age of 16. This is hugely beneficial because it means that anyone (over 16) has the opportunity to change careers or pursue a new interest and gain a qualification at the same time. It also enables organisations to have a wider pool of candidates to choose from. Moreover, because the pay is often greater for those working at higher levels, it is a valid option for older people to consider. For those on benefits the wages are treated in the same way as someone earning so can be an option for those who need state support.
