Strength-based Strength based interviews focus on what you like doing. Questions in these interviews will seek to assess and evaluate your personal attributes and natural talents. It is hard to fake your love of organising if it’s something you dislike, so you need to know your strengths and play to them. Undertake a review of your strengths using psychometric tests or use strength-based exercises to help you clarify these. Some typical questions you might be asked are: “Do you prefer the big picture or the small details?” “Describe a successful day and say what made it successful.” “What are you good at?”

Group Group interviews allow employers the chance to review a range of applicants and acts a screening process. These are typical for marketing and advertising, corporate, finance and at assessment days undertaken by military or police. Typically, the format of group interviews includes a presentation from employers to job applicants about the company. Candidates may then be required to engage in group activities where work-related tasks are completed. Group interviews give the employer an opportunity to observe candidate behaviours and interaction with other people. There is no easy way to prepare, but you can make sure you listen to other’s views, speak confidently, contribute to the task, keep your cool and be aware of your body language. Audition Sometimes interviewers want to see what candidates can do in an audition before they consider hiring them. These are common for music, acting and dance roles but also take place in education, catering and other settings where your skills are assessed through a work trial, presentation or task.
