2 UNIVERSITY OF KENT ACADEMIES TRUST

Welcome

UKAT is a confident and very reflective Trust, with a strong sense of moral duty and social responsibility. We strive to serve and hold true to our values. Through working collaboratively with a growing family of primary and secondary schools, proactively supported by the prestigious University of Kent, together, we have a wider impact on the educational outcomes and opportunities for all our young people, their families and the wider community. I have been an educator in Essex, Inner London, and Kent for 25 years. Having been a Headteacher of large comprehensive schools and an Executive Head of three Primary schools, I fully recognise the power of collaboration within and across organisations, as well as the importance of building a positive, cohesive, and reflective culture to empower young people and staff to achieve their absolute best. If you would like to explore working in genuine partnership, I would be delighted to hear from you.

School Improvement Support

UKAT began with an aim to support young people and providing robust school improvement support is part of that. UKAT has a proven track record in providing school improvement support, having successfully turned around Brompton Academy, an academy that continues to be first choice for Kent and Medway young people year on year. Following close behind is the newly developed and re-energised Chatham Grammar now enjoying a new brand, new facilities and new ICT infrastructure. Our approach to school improvement is tailored to meet the individual needs of each school/academy which is seen as unique with its own set of circumstances. Schools/ academies joining the Trust will be encouraged and supported to take on board UKAT’s

innovative curriculum and become part of this strong network of educational providers and stakeholders. UKAT are experienced and highly qualified in forward thinking change projects and will undertake a needs analysis for each academy/school to identify areas for improvement. Upon completion of the analysis, UKAT’s Executive Leadership Team will work collaboratively with the school/ academy leaders to devise improvement strategies, which may include staff working across sites to provide support, training and coaching to enhance practice, ensuring high standards are delivered. Our general improvement approach is for academies/ schools to support and organically grow each other.
