Yearly Life at Somerhill

Somerhill attends world’s first Children’s AI Summit!

On Tuesday 4th February, Somerhill pupils attended the world's first Children's AI Summit, hosted by the Queen Mary University of London, in partnership with The Alan Turing Institute. Children aged 8-18 discussed AI’s impact on their lives and how they could shape its future development, resulting in the Children’s Manifesto for the Future of AI, outlining young people's expectations for AI policy. The children expressed excitement about AI’s potential, particularly in education and environmental protection, while also voicing concerns about privacy, digital equity, and the risk of isolation. They stressed that AI should not replace human interaction and called for safe AI regulation, equitable access, and consideration of mental health and environmental impacts.
