Yearly Life at Somerhill
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 campfire and smores experience
The children were treated to an afternoon of woodland merriment to get the festive season underway. They enjoyed toasting marshmallows and singing Christmas songs around the fire together, as well as exploring the woods, making bug hotels and playing stick man games. A royal day out for Year 8 pupils
On the last day of last half term, Year 8 visited Hampton Court Palace to enhance their studies of power in Stuart England. They toured the famous Tudor apartments, which were also used by their less famous Stuart cousins in order to emphasise their power. The boys considered how the palace was altered and used by later leaders, including Cromwell, the restoration monarchs, and those who reigned following the Glorious Revolution. The boys behaved very well and impressed with their enthusiasm and engagement. They also particularly enjoyed watching a game of “Real Tennis” and spotting koi in the Privy Gardens.
