Yearly Life at Somerhill

Science at Somerhill Year 8 finished their chemistry unit in style by investigating the energy content of powdered foods. They developed an ingenious method of combusting them while measuring the light intensity and temperature of the flame produced. These results were recorded on our data loggers while a real time graph was drawn on our iPads. Interestingly, coffee mate contained the most energy!
