Yearly Life at Somerhill
Year 8 Geography trip to Reculver
Year 8 visited Reculver in October as part of their study of coasts. They spent the morning on the beach measuring beach profiles, undertaking coarse sediment analysis and groyne measurements to work out the power of the waves and direction of long shore drift respectively. The afternoon was spent using bi-polar analysis to work out the human impact of coastal management along different parts of the coast and the boys also spoke to locals and visitors to gauge their opinions on the coastal defences at Reculver.
Our guide Nick from Urban Geography remarked how very impressed he was with the boys' knowledge and how well they conducted themselves on the day.
