How Long should my CV be?
What style tips can you give me on my CV? Here is a list of things you should do when formatting your CV. 1. Use a modern font such as Calibri, Arial, Arial Narrow that is easy to read than Times New Roman. 2. Use bullets to summarise your experiences and skills. 3. Bold, underline or capitalise your section headers but only use one of these formats. 4. Make sure all your style changes are the same throughout the document using only one font and avoid colour. 5. Avoid tables, columns and lines across the sections as these make the format messy. 6. Avoid graphic icons unless you are designer going for a graphic role. 7. Use the margins to maximise the space but do not overdo it. 8. Do not include your photograph unless you are applying for a role in USA or Europe.
Your document should be no more than two sides of A4 in a sensible font size of eleven to thirteen points. For those with less work experience or having single role over a long period, a single page is enough. If you have operated in senior management roles you may need to expand your achievements to three pages. Any more than this is simply too much detail unless you are applying for a very senior, chief executive type role.
