Year 5 create ‘green man’ faces in the woods!
This term, Year 5 pupils decamped to the cool shade of the trees during the hot days to create ‘green man’ faces among the woodland. The children listened to the folk story of the ‘green man’, a mythical figure who quietly protects the forest, its creatures, and the children who wander through it. Pupils sculpted faces from clay, placing them in hidden spots on tree bark and decorating them with twigs, leaves, and cones to represent the green man’s wild hair and beard. Echoing the natural cycle of life and renewal, the clay creations will gradually break down and return to the earth from which they came.
