THE SOMERHILL REVIEW 2023/24
During trips week, Year 6 headed to Dorset for a week of sun, sand and serious adventure! The excitement began as soon as they arrived, with the girls heading to the beach for a range of team-building games while the boys went indoor rock climbing on Bournemouth Pier. On Tuesday, the girls headed to Sandbanks for raft building, jumbo paddle boarding and crabbing. The boys travelled further south for a scenic coastal walk and coasteering at Dancing Ledge. On Wednesday, the groups swapped activities: the girls took their turn jumping from cliffs and swimming in caves while the boys spent the day catching crabs and testing their raft-building skills. That night, the boys tried their hand at archery tag, an exciting

game best described as dodgeball with arrows. Thursday saw boys and girls sharpen
their bushcraft skills, learning to light fires and practising their archery (this time aiming at targets). They also visited
Dorset Water Park, where they wrestled their friends – and teachers – into the water
from a series of inflatable obstacles. That night, the girls had their turn competing in an archery tag competition. On the last morning, it was the girls’ turn at Rock Reef, scaling a variety of increasingly challenging walls. The boys headed to the beach for team-building activities and one final chance to dig holes in the sand. Finally, bringing back wonderful memories (and a surprising amount of sand), the coaches arrived, and we headed back to Somerhill.
