Yearly Life at Somerhill
In Year 4, pupils have been learning about masks from all over the world. They have designed their own Northwest Pacific Moon Mask and begun constructing this out of cardboard.
Year 5 have developed their observational drawing, making studies of everyday objects, inspired by the artist Michael Craig-Martin. Pupils have used their ICT skills to create a variety of colour options for a final painting. They will complete this next half-term using acrylic paint.
Year 7 have been exploring 2D relief, inspired by Frank Stella. Pupils are now designing really interesting, abstract imaginary machine sculptures using imagery from their lino and heat press prints, acetate, card and tracing paper.
Year 6 have completed some amazing animal portraits, pairing their favourite animal with their favourite medium. These have taken a while to produce and the quality really shows!
