Toulouse

Year 7 trip to

This year, the Year 7 French trip had a cross-curricular theme with engineering and science and so we boarded the plane to Toulouse, one of the most important hubs for engineering in France. We visited ‘La Halle de la machine,’ an interactive robotics museum where the boys engaged with weird and wonderful contraptions which gave second life to otherwise scraps of metal. Combining fire, strength, musicality and wind-power, the boys were introduced to a world where STEM and mythology collide, culminating with a ride on a huge robotic Minotaur!

For those who appreciate a sleek instrument panel, the flight deck of the Airbus A380 we roamed around at Aeroscopia was a real treat as was the opportunity to board a Concorde.There was some strolling around the ‘pink city’, visits to gift shops as well as some relaxing moments in city gardens to practise buying a few things in French. While in the area, we also visited the medieval city of Carcassonne followed by a fun afternoon playing with friends at an Aquapark.The boys then returned to school to learn the formation of the perfect and imperfect tenses so that they could describe their adventures in the French language. We hope the trip opened up young minds to the idea of using strong language skills combined with other skills sets in the world of work.
